I’ve always had a problem with spaghetti: it’s just too long. I mean, there’s a reason they say not to order it on a date. I get around this crushing problem by snapping the spaghetti strands in half as I add them to the pot. You too? I knew I wasn’t the only one.
But the thing is that even that is kind of messy. Some of them end up under the grates on the stove top. Some end up on the floor. All in all, it’s annoying.
Luckily, my husband came up with this all-in-one solution. Simply hold the bag of spaghetti halfway over the edge of a table or counter. Put one hand on the half that’s on the counter, and one hand on the half that’s hanging off. Press firmly down on the hanging-off section, and listen. You’ll hear a ripple as the spaghetti starts snapping.
Ta-dum! No mess. No trouble. Just a pack of pasta, split perfectly down the middle. Problem solved.
